ZYDACRON Newsletter Q4/2007

“Let us remember that the Christmas heart is a giving heart, a wide open heart that thinks of others first. The birth of the baby Jesus stands as the most significant event in all history, because it has meant the pouring into a sick world of the healing medicine of love which has transformed all manner of hearts for almost two thousand years.”
(George Matthew Adams, 1878 - 1962)

Dear Reader,

November brought a huge milestone: At the international tradeshow and conference MEDICA in Dusselsdorf, Germany, we presented the successor of our CareStation solution – the BETAVISTA video care system:

Launch of BETAVISTA at Medica

Medica was the perfect place to present our new video care system BETAVISTA to a broad international public. BETAVISTA is developed in Austria, by our highly motivated and very experienced team of IT-technicians (former Frequentis R&D department), led by Dr. Andreas Kröpfl.

Like its predecessor, BETAVISTA enables care services for elderly people or chronically ill patients at home. But it offers more services than ever before, including a lot of new features for creating a network of services providers, care givers and family or friends.

A care team being available for people in need 24 hours, seven days, in any situation – wouldn’t this give these people additional security and wellbeing at home?

  • BETAVISTA enables multipoint conferences, which bring together for example care provider, client and a practitioner to discuss the next treatment steps or connect care provider, client and caring relatives to learn about aspects of chronic disease management, etc.
  • BETAVISTA is a platform for services not only offering Telehealth, but also meals on wheels, video on demand and much more.
  • With BETAVISTA, also family members can contact their parents by video.

After this successful launch in Germany, we are looking forward to the realization of all these interesting projects and ideas that were born and shaped at Medica. This month, for example, we started with the implementation of our telehealth solutions in Scandinavian smart homes and in an Austrian clinic for stroke patients.

Enjoy our final newsletter of this year. May this Christmas be bright and cheerful and may the New Year begin on a prosperous note!

Tele-Assistance, Italy:

The IRCCS Centro Neurolesi “Bonino-Pulejo” of Messina recently set up a tele-assistance network, based on a video call center and remote monitoring end user terminals, providing home care to patients suffering from chronic or neurological diseases. The service will be supplied by doctors in the center of excellence of the IRCCS of Messina, Italy. The project also aims to build a database for statistic and scientific use.

The main guide lines of the program are Assistance, Research and Education. Three levels of intervention have been installed:

  • Tele-assistance, Tele-rehabilitation and Tele-comfort for autonomous patients
  • Tele-monitoring for patients with advanced disease course
  • Tele-tracking for patients severely affected by dementia

Our partner ADiTech designed and implemented this solution for the IRCSS.

Do you know the solution?

Travelling to a city, an old man lost his way. He came to a fork in the road and did not know which road to take. Standing at the fork were two men. Next to the men was a sign, which you may assume is correct, which stated that one of the two men always told the truth and one of the men always told lies (but it was not known which was which). The sign went on to say that travellers could only ask one of the men one question.
